SUMMARY:Spring Class - American Sutra
DESCRIPTION:Wednesdays\, April 1 - April 29\n6:20 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.\nThe cla
ss this spring will be on the Buddhist experience of the Japanese Internme
nt Camps. We will use a book by Rev. Duncan Williams\, a Japanese-American
Soto Zen priest. The book is "American Sutra: A Story of Faith and Freedo
m in the Second World War". It would be useful if you can get a copy and r
ead it before the class starts on April 1. Maybe folks can share. I am abo
ut half way through it and after a rather dry intro\, it is very interesti
ng though disturbing. Williams is a Soto Zen priest and is the founder of
the Tusuru Project\, which encourages folding of paper cranes in support o
f internees from WWII but also for those interned at our borders.
